LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Shively Police are looking for the driver who hit a motorcyclist from behind and left the scene on Sunday night.

Authorities say the crash happened just after 11 p.m. on Sunday in the southbound lanes of Dixie Highway at Dubourg Avenue in Shively.

Officials say a red or maroon vehicle, possibly an SUV, hit the motorcycle and left the scene.

The crash then sent the motorcyclist into the oncoming lane, where a second vehicle hit him and stopped.

The motorcyclist was critically injured and taken to University of Louisville Hospital. His mother says was scheduled for surgery Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Shively Police at (502) 448-6181 or the Shively anonymous tip line at (502) 930-2SPD.
