West Clark Community Schools vote to move forward on $62 million project

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- West Clark Community Schools is now in a holding pattern.

District leaders met Thursday night to explain how they'll pay for a proposed $62 million improvement project.

The biggest expenditure is renovating Silver Creek High School.

The district would like to use bonds to pay for the project without raising property taxes for some people.

Parents were able to weigh in Thursday, and surprisingly, many wanted to spend more.

"This school needs to be a clean slate," Matt Czarnecki said. "It needs to be started over ... better education, better future."

The board voted 3-2 in favor of moving forward.

If enough taxpayers petition for a referendum by Sept. 6, the project would then be up for voters to decide.
