McConnell says American people are 'conflicted' on presidential race

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- So what happens now that the conventions are over?

Kentucky U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell has a prediction.

"I think we'll be able to tell about two weeks after the Democratic Convention just how close this contest is," McConnell said. "I think the American people are really conflicted about whether they're satisfied with the status quo or whether they want to go in a new direction. Hillary Clinton is clearly the candidate that's status quo, and if you want to go in a new direction, Donald Trump is the candidate."

McConnell was in Louisville on Friday afternoon.

He talked about a wide range of topics while speaking to Greater Louisville Inc.
