LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police say authorities have arrested a Boonville, Indiana woman on a meth possession charge.

According to a release, police arrested 30-year-old Kayla Towery on Friday.

Police say on Friday afternoon, a trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-64 around the 62 mile marker, near the Ferdinand exit.

Officials say that as the trooper was speaking with the vehicle's driver, the trooper "noticed that the front seat passenger was appearing very nervous." Towery was the front seat passenger in the vehicle.

Police obtained identification from Towery and the driver. The trooper discovered that Towery was wanted in Warrick County for failing to appear for a theft and forgery charge, according to a police release.

The trooper checked Towery's purse for weapons and illegal items after she was placed into custody. Police say the trooper located a spoon, syringe and empty Suboxone packages. Authorities say a plastic bag containing a clear rock-like substance that tested positive for meth was also located.

Towery was arrested and taken to the Dubois County Security Center.

In addition to the meth possession charge, Towery is also charged with possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia.
