LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested two people after they took part in what the suspects described as a "joy ride" -- a trip police say caused over $10,000 worth of damage to an area golf course.

According to an arrest report, police were called to the Shawnee Golf Course, near the intersection of Northwestern Parkway and Bank Street, just after 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say the caretaker of the course told them he saw a car doing donuts on the golf course -- and he was able to take down the license plate number.

According to the arrest reports, 34-year-old Perry Smith and 26-year-old Jodie Wilson were in the vehicle, crashed it into a nearby ditch and took off running.

When police caught up with them, they allegedly told officers that they had been driving the vehicle, that they were just "joy riding" and that it had been a "dumb idea."

According to the arrest reports, the pair caused over $10,000 worth of damage to the golf course.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with first degree criminal mischief.
