LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police troopers will soon find a little more cash in their wallets.

Pay raises take effect Monday as part of the new state budget. The General Assembly also tweaked the pay scale.

It establishes specific pay rates for each rank based on years of service. Previously, veteran troopers were paid the same as newer troopers.

The state hopes the pay change boosts recruitment and retention in Kentucky State Police ranks.
