BOZICH | Indiana and Bellarmine book basketball exhibition rematch
Bellarmine and Indiana will play a basketball exhibition game for the second consecutive season on Nov. 5 at Assembly Hall in Bloomington.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Bellarmine and Indiana had such a solid experience playing a basketball exhibition game prior to last season that the Hoosiers and Knights will do it again.
A source close to the Indiana program said on Monday that Indiana and Bellarmine will play an exhibition leading into the 2016-17 season Nov. 5 at Assembly Hall in Bloomington. It will be one of the first games played in the Hoosier's facility after a $45 million renovation is completed this fall.
Indiana defeated Bellarmine, 73-62, last Nov. 9.
IU coach Tom Crean and Scott Davenport of Bellarmine are friends. Former Bellarmine star Jake Thelen joined Crean’s staff as a graduate assistant coach during the spring.
Ryan Burton played his first two seasons at Bellarmine before finishing his career as a walk-on at Indiana last March.
The Hoosiers return three starters from a team that finished 27-8 and won the 2016 Big Ten regular season title. The Knights finished 23-7 last season.
