Cedar Point's 'Mean Streak' to close after Sept. 16

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- What was once the tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster in the world will close next month.

The last day guests will be able to ride Cedar Point's "Mean Streak"  is Sept. 16, during opening night of the park's 20th HalloWeekends.

Mean Streak opened 25 years ago in 1991. The coaster hurls riders some 65 miles per hour, and includes a 155-foot drop.

It's being closed to make room for future development.
