LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Stan Curtis was convicted of stealing from his own charity and sentenced to two years in prison. Now the well-known Louisville philanthropist is free.

Court records show Curtis was released from federal custody July 29. The 67-year-old founder of USA Harvest was caught in a half-million dollar fraud scheme involving the non-profit.

He pleaded guilty to money laundering, mail fraud, and filing false taxes in 2014.

USA Harvest provided food to families in need, but is no longer in business.

Curtis also founded Kentucky Harvest and Blessings in a Backpack.
