President Obama commutes sentences of 214 prisoners, including one from Louisville

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- President Obama is shortening the terms for 214 prisoners, including more than 60 inmates serving life sentences.

The White House says it's the largest batch of commutations on a single day in more than a century.

Three of the prisoners are from Kentucky, including a Louisville man sentenced to 240 months in prison for a drug offense.

There are also several from Indiana, though none in our area.

President Obama has now shortened more than 500 sentences during his time in office.

Most of these inmates will be released Dec. 1.
