Louisville man arrested after allegedly following 7-year-old into restroom stall at area restaurant
Police say he held the restroom door opened for the boy and followed him inside. What allegedly happened after that had the child in fear for his safety.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a 49-year-old man after he followed a 7-year-old boy into a restroom stall at an area restaurant.
According to an arrest warrant, the incident took place on Monday, June 27, at Ditto's Restaurant at 1114 Bardstown Road.
Police say 49-year-old David Gladstone held the restroom door open for a 7-year-old boy and followed him inside. The boy then got into a bathroom stall and closed the door, believing the door was locked.
According to the arrest warrant, the boy had his pants and underwear pulled down when he noticed Gladstone, "staring at him through the crack between the stall and the door."
Police say Gladstone then got into the bathroom stall with the boy and, "continued to stare" at him.
He then allegedly told the victim, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry."
Police say Gladstone's actions made the boy fear for his safety. Both Gladstone and the boy exited the restroom and Gladstone left the restaurant.
Two hours later, police say the boy told his father what happened. The boy's father then went back to the restaurant and reviewed video footage, before calling police and filing a report.
Police say they were able to identify Gladstone -- and that Gladstone has told them in the past that "he likes to view children using the restroom."
A warrant was issued for Gladstone's arrest on Tuesday, July 26, and he was taken into custody at his home this afternoon. He is charged with voyeurism and menacing. He is expected to appear in court Friday morning.
