CLARK COUNTY, Ind. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a suspect wanted for stealing several appliances from a home under construction in southern Indiana.

According to Capt. Scottie Maples with the Clark County Sheriff's Department, police arrested Kevin Hawkins at his residence in Scottsburg, Indiana Thursday night.

Hawkins is accused of stealing a refrigerator, stove and dishwasher, as well as several other items, from a home under construction in Memphis, Indiana earlier this week. He's also accused of ripping up the new carpet and taking it as well.

"This is the first time I've actually heard of someone stealing the carpet from inside a residence," Maples said.

Hawkins is charged with one count of felony burglary. He's being held at the Clark County Jail.
