8th annual Kentuckiana Eggfest benefits local charity

BROWNSBORO, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 8th annual Kentuckiana Eggfest was held Saturday at Brownsboro Hardware and Paint on Brownsboro Road.

The event is focused around the green egg cooker, which cooked food like beef and pork for the entire day. Drinks were provided for a minimal fee.

There were even cooking competitions.

Four chefs from local restaurants had 90 minutes to cook an appetizer, main course and a dessert.

The proceeds from the event go to Blessings In A Backpack, a local charity aimed at fighting world hunger.

Last year the Eggfest raised over $16,000 for the organization.

"Our people work hard every day. We try to take care of the community, and they support us. This is a great way to give back to a local charity," Jim Lehrer said.

In 8 years, this event has grown from 6 eggs to 120.
