CycLOUvia promotes alternate modes of transportation at 8th annual event

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Walking, biking, or dancing is your only mode of transportation during CycLOUvia.

The event has been closing down streets in various neighborhoods around Louisville for 8 years.

This year it was held in the Schnitzelburg, Germantown, and Shelby Park neighborhoods.

It's supposed to promote healthy lifestyles and alternate modes of transportation.

"Some people don't feel comfortable in the roads or safe even so this kind of gives people the opportunity to test the waters to see how they like it," Seth Short said.

Businesses along the route were also encouraged to be open so that visitors could get a sense of the neighborhoods.
