JCPS parents and students prepare for first day
Jefferson County Public Schools students are preparing to return to the classroom Wednesday morning.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jefferson County Public Schools students are preparing to return to the classroom Wednesday morning.
Parents are making sure their kids are in bed early and ready at the bus stop.
“We have a supply list that we have to go buy. Certain requirements that they need and we’ve already gone there and done that,” said Amy Whiter, her daughter is starting third grade at Audubon Traditional Elementary School.
Whiter was just one of many parents to pass through Shaheen’s Department Store the night before the first day.
“It’s been busy all day. We’re used to it. We’ve been doing this a long time so we try to get geared up the best we can,” said owner Sam Shaheen.
Shaheen says business is up some over last year and last year was ahead of the previous year.
JCPS is the largest school system in Kentucky and the 27th largest in the U.S.
