LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It might have been Judge Amber Wolf's first TV interview, but she's appeared on screen before.

Courtroom video captured last Friday made the local judge an internet sensation.

The story was posted on sites like Reddit and the Huffington Post this week.

"I thought about it for a brief moment, and just thought, you know, this is an opportunity that I have to positively impact someone, and give him an opportunity to meet his son," Judge Wolf said Tuesday.

James and Ashley Roeder are charged as co-defendants in the same burglary and have been ordered by Judge Wolf not to have contact with each other.

That means the new father, an inmate in jail, had never seen his newborn son.

"So I had him brought back out and gave him the chance to hold his son for the first time," Judge Wolf said.

There wasn't a dry eye in the place, not from the father, the mother, or even the judge.

"I think I was already just in the spotlight for something else, and it happened to make the news again," she said.

Judge Wolf also received national attention just a week ago when she questioned what a defendant was wearing in her courtroom and called Metro Corrections right then and there.

She never expected a second brush with internet stardom and says that's never her intention while making decision from the bench. But asked if she would make the same call again -- you bet.

"In this particular situation, I stand by my decision," Judge Wolf said. "I think that was the best decision I could have made and probably one of the best I've made in my life."
