LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Leitchfield, Kentucky, man is facing serious charges after authorities say he drove his truck 15-20 miles, dragging a dog behind it.

The alleged incident took place Saturday afternoon. According to an arrest report, Calvin Dennis was under the influence when he drove his vehicle, the brown dog dragging along behind, tied to the hitch.

Authorities who stopped Dennis say he told them he had been taking painkillers, and that they found suspected methamphetamine inside his vehicle, along with a straw inside a cigarette pack.

He was arrested by the Edmonson County Sheriff's Department and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and torture of a dog or cat resulting in serious physical injury or death.

The condition of the dog is not indicated in the report.
