Indiana AG warns residents to avoid answering phone calls from certain area codes
Caller ID isn't enough to keep you safe.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Caller ID isn't enough to keep you safe. Indiana's Attorney General has a few ways Hoosiers can spot a scammer without picking up the phone.
Avoid answering area codes like "000" and "123." Don't answer unfamiliar area codes or phone numbers. Avoid callers with the same area code and phone number as your own. And ignore callers with generic names like "Card Services" and "Home Security."
The next deadline to sign up for Indiana's "Do Not Call list" is Tuesday, Aug.16.
