LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Plate Glass, a century-old manufacturing company, officially opened a second plant in the Newburg area on Thursday.

President Bill Stone said the company is on much stronger footing after nearly collapsing in 2009. Stone recently sold the company to a Florida-based competitor, Aldora, which made the $4 million investment in the new facility possible.

Louisville Plate Glass makes large panes of glass used in commercial buildings, among other products.

The new facility at 4301 Chef's Way employs about 40 people, and Stone said plans call for more than 100 employees within the next few years.

He said the jobs start at $11 or $12 an hour, but workers quickly get raises and can earn in the $25 per hour range with experience.

Interested workers can call the company at 502-584-6145 to receive an application.
