GE Appliances to close Bloomington, Ind. plant on Aug. 26

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- GE Appliances plans to close its Bloomington, Indiana, plant in two weeks, putting hundreds out of work.

We first told you about the plan in June. Today, GE, now a Haier company, announced the last day for its 328 employees will be Aug. 26.

The company says most of those workers will get 90 percent of their base pay for nearly one year, while not working.

Demand for its side-by-side refrigerators plunged, leading to the decision to close.
