LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- We're learning new details about one of the LMPD officers involved in Monday's fatal shooting.

Officer Brian Smith was one of three officers who responded to Broadleaf Drive where 57-year-old Darnell Wicker was killed.

The shooting was caught on this body cam video.

According to his personnel file, Smith was suspended without pay in 2009 for sending inappropriate text messages to his ex-girlfriend's daughter, who was a minor.

He was suspended for 25 days.

A few years later, Smith was also reprimanded for failing to report off-duty work.

Right now, he's only considered a witness in Monday's fatal shooting.

The other two officers, Taylor Banks and Beau Gadegaard, are on administrative leave.
