LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officers with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office have arrested two Louisville women who authorities say were caught with property that was stolen from Kentucky Kingdom. Authorities say the property recovered totaled about $1,100.
Nicole Welker, 34, and Shawda Barnes, 44, were arrested Saturday at the Kentucky Exposition Center, according to official arrest reports. Metro Corrections tells WDRB that Barnes had been in the jail under the name of Shawna Clark.
Police say Barnes was reported to officers as allegedly having taken property from a chair in the area of the Beach Club at Kentucky Kingdom. According to police, Welker was seen by witnesses allegedly taking property from the same area.
Officials say property included personal IDs, credit cards, an iPhone 6+, a pair of khaki shorts, cash and car keys.
Investigators say a victim called the number of the stolen phone and it rang in Barnes' bag. According to police, three credit cards belonging to one victim and about $50 in cash that had been taken from a victim's wallet were also found inside Barnes' bag.
Police also say the two women had a total of eight credit and gas cards between them.
