POLICE: Victim dies 4 days after being found shot on Southern Pkwy.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a man who was shot on August 7 has died.

The Jefferson County Coroner has identified the victim as 33-year-old Sylvestre Martinez. Officials say he had a Lexington address, but was from Mexico.

Police say officers with LMPD's Fourth Division responded to a reported of shots fired on Sunday, August 7 in the 4600 block of Southern Parkway at about 12:40 a.m.

When officers arrived, they located Martinez and say he had suffered gunshot wounds. He was taken to University Hospital, and was initially said to be in critical, but stable condition.

Police say Martinez died on Thursday, August 11.

There have been no arrests and police have not identified a suspect.

The LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating.

A prayer walk is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. It will begin at the Beechmont Baptist Church.
