Baxter Community Fest brings LMPD officers together with local kids

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- They say a first impression is a lasting impression.

It's also a big reason why LMPD put on a special event Tuesday night.

Baxter Park was the place to be as LMPD teamed up to put on the Baxter Community Fest. Families came out for food and fun, but officers we spoke to said they wanted to use the event to talk and meet with kids that live in the area.

"LMPD prides itself on the way we do want to interact with people and that relationship we build," Officer Roger Collins said. "So it's important to set positive examples as a police officer."

This is the first time LMPD has partnered with other groups to put on the event.
