LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 19-year-old woman is in jail accused of shooting and killing a man near Shawnee Park
According to the arrest report, Jaiara Simpson was arrested late Tuesday evening. Police say a juvenile co-defendant told them she was with Simpson when the victim was shot.
She was in court Wednesday morning, where she pleaded not guilty to murder. Detectives believe Simpson, along with a juvenile, shot and killed 53-year old Larry Pope.
Officers found Pope in the alley on South 44th Street near River Park Drive around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a call from a neighbor.
The judge at Simpson's arraignment hearing mentioned the violent trend in Louisville in recent months saying there has been "a proliferation of murders in this town."
