LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Uber and Portland Elementary School have partnered together to collect school supplies as part of the national Kids in Need Foundation supplies drive.
According to a news release from Jefferson County Public Schools, the drive encourages offices, organizations and groups throughout Louisville to collect new or unopened school supplies.
On Friday, Aug. 19, Uber users can request a free Uber to their location to collect the school supplies donations. Simply open your Uber app on Friday, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and select "SCHOOL" from the bottom slider. You can then request a vehicle to pick up your donations. All items will then be delivered to Portland Elementary, and distributed to students.
"We're excited to team up with Uber and the Kids in Need Foundation to empower the local community to help support our students," said Portland Elementary School Principal Angela Hosch, according to the news release. "This initiative is a great way to ensure our students have the school supplies they need and are prepared to learn all school year."
