Born in Bardstown, Ky. back when his father worked at the Barton Distillery in the early 60s. Joseph Harry is named after his great-grandfather and legendary Kentucky distiller Joseph L. Beam (Joe L) and his grandfather Harry who was the youngest of Joe L.’s 7 distilling sons.
Harry started in the mailroom at WDRB-TV in 1982 and over the years has held positions in operations, news, production and programming. His interest eventually led him to enjoy the "nuts & bolts" of broadcast television and getting all of the pieces of the puzzle assembled for air each day. Harry went into management as the Program Director in 1999 and in 2002 was named Director, Programming & Operations.
Harry and his wife Celeste raised 2 children and last year celebrated the arrival of their 1st grandchild, Ryan. The only child left in their home is their Labrador Otis who they believe isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Otis, by the way, is named after the character Otis Campbell on The Andy Griffith Show.
Harry played percussion from elementary school through high school and also had a stint in the University of Louisville drumline where he holds a BA in Communication.
