LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Trinity did not win the Kentucky Class 6A football championship in 2015. Male toppled the Shamrocks.

But coach Bob Beatty’s team always has the attention of the folks who cover high school football on the national level.

The proof arrived with the announcement from the web site MaxPreps that Trinity’s season-opener Friday night at Ensworth High in Nashville has been selected as one of the site’s national Top 10 games this week.

Trinity beat Ensworth, 45-0, last season, setting the tone for Ensworth’s first losing season. In an interesting twist, the Tennessee team is led by a defensive back, Rodney Owens, who has committed to play for the University of Louisville.

The Rocks are ranked first in the Kentuckiana Area in the initial WDRB High School Football Poll.

Here is the complete list from MaxPreps:

And, one additional note from MaxPreps. The site has launched Touchdowns Against Cancer, a national campaign that unites high school football teams across the country in the fight against childhood cancer.

In partnership with PLEDGE IT and St. Jude Children's Hospital, high school football fans may now join the fight by pledging money for every touchdown their team scores between September 15 and October 1. High school football coaches can get started by logging into their team account on MaxPreps and clicking the "Start Campaign" button at the top of the page.
