LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A University of Kentucky police captain, who is also a registered nurse, was in the right place at the right time when he helped deliver a baby at an intersection during student move-in day.

UK Police Chief Joe Monroe says Capt. Kevin Franklin was directing traffic Wednesday morning when a car pulled over with a woman who was in labor in the back seat.

Franklin helped deliver the baby girl quickly and safely. The newborn was taken to the hospital in good condition.

Franklin is a 32-year veteran with the police department.
