LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Uber drivers dropped off several boxes of school supplies to west Louisville students Friday.

For a three-hour period, users could request a free Uber to take their donations straight to Portland Elementary.

"The teachers were just as excited to see the Uber pull in as much as the kids," said Angela Hosch, the principal at Portland Elementary. "We had kids out on the playground. It was sort of like a Christmas pull-up."

Officials say the initiative ensures students have the supplies they need and are prepared to learn.
