NELSON COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- One person has died after their vehicle wrecked and caught fire in Nelson County early Sunday morning.
Sgt. Dennis Wells with the Nelson County Sheriff's Department said in a release that 24-year-old Tyler Kays of Bardstown was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by the Nelson County Coroner.
Officials say Kays' vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons. The vehicle was headed East on Highway 150 when it crossed into the Westbound lane where it ran into a ditch line and into a private drive. The impact on stone support for a steel privacy gate caused the vehicle to spin around and catch fire.
The vehicle burned until it was extinguished by the Nelson County Fire Department.
The investigation is ongoing.
