LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- JCPS will hold a public meeting on Monday night to consider lowering the property tax rate.

The current school portion of the property tax is 71 cents per 100 dollars of assessed value.

Superintendent Donna Hargens says she will ask the school board to lower it to 70.8 cents.

The consideration comes as property assessments across the county continue to rise.

If the district does not lower the rate, the rate would be subject to a recall by voters.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the VanHoose Education Center.
