LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jefferson County Attorney's Office has put so called "deadbeat" parents on blast.

The names of thousands of local parents who owe nearly $100 million in back child support was released Sunday.

The list isn't, however, just "deadbeat dads."

"The list this year includes 9 percent women, which is a regrettably an ever-increasing number as well," Jefferson County attorney Mike O'Connell said Monday.

This is the 11th year the names of so called "deadbeat" parents have been made public.

O'Connell says the annual inserts have helped his office collect nearly $15 million, and the goal is to get help tracking down people who are not fulfilling their obligations to their children.

The list often leads to information about a new address or new job.

"That's where the real value comes in ... is that people read the insert, they see a name and an address, and we put extra people on the phone, they call in and say, 'well, we know Mr. Smith on the list, but that's not where he lives, but I know where he lives and better yet, I know where he works,'" O'Connell said. "So that has proved remarkable."

If you have any information about anyone on the list, you can contact the county attorney's office.
