SCOTTSBURG, Ind. (WDRB) -- The Indiana Department of Transportation is closing State Road 356 south of Scottsburg at the Louisville and Indiana Railroad crossing again this week.

The 24-hour closure which begins tomorrow (AUGUST 24) at 7 a.m. will allow railroad crews to adjust track height.

Motorists will be detoured around the S.R. 356 crossing closure located 1000 feet east of U.S. Highway 31 in Scott County via U.S. 31, S.R. 56 and S.R. 3.

INDOT officials note that this will be the third closure at the S.R. 356 crossing since mid-May. Rail replacement and subsequent modifications are part of a $100 million effort to upgrade track and signals between Louisville and Seymour by LIRC and CSX which will improve rail access to the Port of Indiana at Jeffersonville.
