Police need help identifying 2 men who burglarized Highlands bar

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police are hoping you can identify two people who broke into a bar in the Highlands.

It happened at Monkey Wrench on Barret Avenue either late Monday night or early Tuesday morning of last week.

One man, who has his face partially covered, cut the safe out of the floor, taking about $1,500.

The other man, wearing a UK hat, tried but failed to take an ATM, but still destroyed it.

Owner Dennie Humphrey is surprised by what the guys didn't take.

"There's thousands of dollars worth of bourbon that they could've nabbed, and they just weren't thinking clear," Humphrey said.

"I think it's just an epidemic, a huge drug problem, and it's happening all around. Not just this neighborhood, but everywhere. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of who they are and keep if from happening to somebody else."

Anyone with any information is asked to call the LMPD tip line, where you can remain anonymous. The number is 574-LMPD.
