LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was arrested Thursday after police say he left two young children in a hot car.

According to the arrest report, it happened around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 25. That's when police were called to the 1300 block of Sale Avenue, near Berry Boulevard, on reports of children unattended in a car. Police say the vehicle was not running and the temperature outside was over 90 degrees.

Police say they were on scene for about 10 minutes when 34-year-old Charles Sexton came out of a business, got in the car and drove away. Police say an officer pulled Sexton over and noticed the 2-year-old girl was "dripping with sweat and was very flushed and red." Police say a 3-year-old boy was also hot and was not restrained in a child seat, booster seat or seat belt.

The children were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Sexton was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment, failure to use a child restraint device in vehicle, and failure to maintain required insurance.
