Ky. State Police arrest Laurel County man on charges related to child sexual exploitation

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police have arrested a Laurel County man on charges related to child sexual exploitation.

According to a release from Kentucky State Police, 53-year-old David B. Haas, was arrested on August 24 at his home in London, Kentucky. The area is about 80 miles southeast of Lexington.

The charges against Haas are related to the possession and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

Haas was arrested following an undercover investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. Police say the investigation began after Haas was allegedly found sharing images of child sexual exploitation online.

The investigation led to a search of Haas' home. Officials say equipment used in the alleged crime will be taken to KSP's forensic lab to be examined.

Haas is being held at the Laurel County Detention Center. He is charged with distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

Police are continuing to investigate the case.
