Indiana State Police investigating theft from police vehicle

COLUMBUS, In. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police are investigating after someone stole several items from a police vehicle.

According to a release from Indiana State Police, the theft happened over the weekend in Columbus, Indiana.

Police say on Saturday, between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., an unmarked police car was broken into at the Clarion Hotel, located at 2480 Jonathan Moore Pike. Authorities say someone took a Dell laptop computer, a Remington 12 gauge shotgun and cash.

Investigators say a witness saw a navy blue minivan with a silver grille parked next to the police vehicle around the time the theft happened.

Callers are allowed to remain anonymous.
