FBI searching for accused child predator with possible Kentucky ties

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The FBI in Cleveland is searching for an accused child predator who may have ties to Kentucky.

Authorities say the man is believed to have abducted a 6-year-old child from her home in the early morning hours of May 21. Officials say the man entered the child's home while adults were sleeping and took the child for 17 hours. The FBI says the man dropped the child off about two miles from her home.

Investigators say forensic evidence links the man to an unsolved attempted abduction that happened in February of this year, involving a 10-year-old girl in Elyria, Ohio. The FBI says the man reached the child's unlocked bedroom window and grabbed her leg. The child was able to get away from the man and get to her father, according to officials.

The 6-year-old child told officials she rode in the front floorboard of the man's car to a residence. While at the residence, the victim said a man and woman came to the residence, prepared food for the suspect and left. Officials say the girl stated that the suspect told her to hide and be quiet.

The FBI says it's believed the two people did not know the child was being kept in a bedroom at the residence. Authorities say the two people possibly saw the man's car, which was a 2002 or 2003 Chevy Malibu, with a mismatched colored front driver's side fender. Investigators are asking the two people to contact authorities.

The FBI says it's believed that someone in the homes may have had contact with the suspect through social media and unknowingly provided the man information about the occupants in the home.

In an image released by the FBI, the man had facial hair and was wearing a hood and a hat with a visor. Officials also say he had on dark shoes with light-colored soles.

Anyone with information is asked to call 216-622-6842.
