LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new project will transform Dixie Highway into a state-of-the-art roadway.
City leaders will give an update on a $16 million federal grant on Wednesday afternoon. It's expected to create a modern, safer, more pedestrian-friendly corridor.
Parts of Dixie Highway carry more than 60,000 vehicles per day and hosts the region's busiest bus route, with nearly 5,000 daily riders.
The federal grant is part of an overall $50 million project to improve traffic flow and public transit.
This is the largest investment of transportation dollars in Jefferson County since the Ohio River Bridges Project.
