Jeffersonville mayor announces holiday card contest

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore has announced a contest encouraging students to help make holiday cards to be distributed to their fellow Hoosiers during the month of December.

"The dog days of summer are upon us, but winter is just a few months away, and Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore is already planning for the holidays," a news release from Moore's office states.

Moore's office says Greater Clark County Schools students, of grades K-5, are being asked to create a piece of art that can be reproduced as the official City of Jeffersonville holiday card. The theme for the card will be "My favorite things: The holidays in Jeffersonville."

"Submissions should be appropriate for all religions," the news release states. Moore's office says designs should be original, completed on 8.5" x 11" paper and created with crayons, water colors, paint, pencils, ink, markers or colored pencils.

All artwork must be received by the mayor's office no later than the end of business on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, for consideration in the contest. Entrants should include a completed entry form with their artwork. Entry forms are available from the students' art teachers, at the mayor's office in city hall, or on the city's Web site at

The winning artist will be named Dec. 1, 2016. Only one grand prize winner will be selected, but other top entries will be displayed in City Hall during the holiday season. The grand prize winner will receive a prize package, including a pizza party for his/her entire classroom.
