LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The top two teams in Kentucky High School volleyball met for the first time Wednesday night. According to MaxPreps, it's a top five meeting in the country.

Sacred Heart Academy took over the top spot nationally on Monday. They traveled to No. 5 Assumption.

It was a tight first set. Points exchanged evenly back and forth throughout the game.

Tied at 5-5, Sacred Heart's senior outside hitter and University of Florida commit, Paige Hammonds took a back row swing but it was blocked by Assumption's Anna Palmer on the right side.

Later, Assumption had set point leading 24-23, Brooke Moore back to serve. Sacred Heart was called for a mishandle on the set. Assumption took the first set 25-23.

In the second set, the Rockets jumped out to an early lead. For a majority of the set, Sacred Heart trailed by five points or more.

Down 17-12, Hammonds took a rip on the outside to get the kill off the block. That point spurred a late push by the Valkyries. Sacred Heart came within four points until Assumption pulled away.

Payton Frederick served for set point in the second. Hammonds tipped it over the block for SHA. Assumption's senior outside hitter Brooke Moore slid under it for the dig.

Then Assumption's middle blocker Kayla Kaiser shot it to the corner for the kill. She gave the crowd a dab in celebration as the Rockets took set two 25-19.

Assumption went on to win the third set 25-19 taking the match in three straight sets at home.
