LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A bride moved up her wedding day so her father battling kidney cancer could attend the ceremony.

Amber Lickteig walked down the aisle with her father Billy, in his hospital bed, at her side.

“This was one of his wishes and it was one of their wishes to have this done and him give her away,” said Andrew Lickteig, the bride’s brother.

The small service was held at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville.

Musicians and photographers donated their time, and flowers were provided free of charge.

The family says they really appreciated the hospital planning the wedding.

“So many folks have been doing different things whether it’s buying the guest book, planning the reception and the menu for that... just so many folks have been involved here at the hospital and in the community,” said Jennifer Nolan, the hospital's president.

The wedding was originally scheduled for November. It was the first ceremony the hospital has ever organized.
