Louisville man arrested weeks after 4-year-old girl shot
Police say they executed a search warrant at the suspect's home as a result of the 4-year-old's shooting.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been arrested weeks after a 4-year-old girl was shot.
On the night of Thursday, Aug. 11, the girl's parents took her to Kosair Children's Hospital. LMPD says the girl sustained a gunshot wound inside an apartment in the 1200 block of Brashear Drive in the Algonquin neighborhood.
Officials didn't know whether the girl shot herself with the gun, or someone else shot her, but she is expected to be okay.
At the time, it wasn't clear who the gun belonged to, or if anyone else was in the apartment at the time.
But on Wednesday night, police arrested 21-year-old Hugh Tyreece Bell, III. Police say they executed a search warrant at Bell's home as a result of the 4-year-old's shooting. According to an arrest warrant, Bell -- a convicted felon -- was found to be in possession of a stolen handgun.
He was arrested and charged with receipt of stolen property and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
The warrant does not indicate that the gun was in any way involved in the shooting of the 4-year-old.
