Hi-Five Doughnuts plans to park food truck and open Butchertown doughnut shop

Posted: Updated:

You soon won't have to chase down a food truck to order a pickled glaze or fried chicken doughnut.

Hi-Five Doughnuts is moving from a food truck named Shelby to a store front at 1011 East Main Street in Butchertown.

“Our goal when we originally started about four and a half years ago was to have a store front,” Hi-Five Doughnuts co-owner Annie Harlow said. “When we started, we were working out of a tent. And we saved all of our money, and we bought Shelby, our food truck, and we've been working out of Shelby for about two years.”

“It's gonna be the radd-est, dope-est, awesome-est doughnut shop ever,” Hi-Five Doughnuts co-owner Leslie Wilson said.

The store front is scheduled to open around the holiday season, but you might still see the doughnut truck rolling around.

“Shelby will go out for weddings, caterings, anything we're hired for," Wilson said. "So we're going to keep her wheels greased."

Hi-Five Doughnuts is one of six other businesses opening in what’s now called the Butcher Block.

Stag + Doe studio and home décor shoppe opened right next door in June.

“We love this area. We're super excited this block is finally getting developed, because it's been vacant for so long,” Stag + Doe co-owner Julie Meehan said.

Two doors down from Stag + Doe, Pho Ba Loo will open during the week of Sept. 12. The restaurant will sell Pho, noodles, salads, homemade bread and other Vietnamese items with a full bar.

“We're super excited for the restaurant to open up ... because then people will have more reason to come,” Meehan said.
