LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- FedEx reimbursed the Iroquois High School Football after a $2,000 donation sent by the Arizona Cardinals was stolen.

The money came after the the NFL team saw pictures of the Louisville football players doing community service work.

Corey Peters, a nose tackle for the Cardinals and former Kentucky football player, began taking up a collection after seeing the pictures. His brother, Christopher Peters, is the head coach at Iroquois.

"They took out whatever money they had in their pockets at the time and took up a collection and got to $2,200," Coach Peters said.

The envelope arrived on Monday, but it was empty. Coach Peters reached out to FedEx and shared the story with WDRB, but it didn't look good.

On Thursday, the coach got a message that gave him the biggest win of the season.

"Yesterday, we found out that FedEx is going to reimburse us the money ... as well as an additional $500," Coach Peters said.

Coach Peters is raising money to take his players on college visits.

"Less than 1 percent of these kids will see the NFL. Less than one," he said. "Even though I have a brother in the NFL. He was a long-shot, and even he didn't think it was a realistic goal until he was about a junior in college."

Some of Coach Peters' best players are not on the team, but they still come to practice and games. That's because they don't qualify academically, but he would rather have them here than out in the street.

Meanwhile, the coach hopes to raise $15,000 to take his team on those college trips.
