COLUMBUS, Miss., (WDRB) -- Mississippi University for Women is creating a scholarship to honor a Kentucky nun stabbed to death in her home.

The scholarship will be awarded to a graduate MUW nursing student who works in an under-served area or does charitable work.

That's what Sister Paula Merrill and Sister Margaret Held had done the last 30 years in rural Mississippi -- until police found their bodies on August 25th.

Merrill belonged to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in Nelson County.

She was laid to rest in Bardstown Friday.

46-year-old Rodney Earl Sanders is charged in their deaths.
