Plea deal expected from one of two suspects in the murder of Harrison County couple

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- A plea deal is expected this morning from one of two suspects in the murders of a Harrison County couple.

Austin Scott is charged with the murders of Gary Henderson and Sennie Arnold in 2013.  Scott had cut a plea deal to plead guilty to the murders in exchange for live in prison.  But a judge allowed him to withdraw that plea in January of this year.

Prosecutors say Scott and Kevin "Drew" Schuler broke into the couple's home to steal guns and prescription drugs before brutally killing them.  Court records say Scott and Schuler implicated themselves in the murders after being arrested by New Albany police on unrelated charges. Scott is accused of repeatedly stabbing Henderson to death. Schuler is accused of using a "wooden stick with a metal end" to beat Arnold to death.

Friends of the victims have said that Arnold was in a wheelchair and couldn't fight back. The case gained a lot of attention from the community. Henderson was well known for his horse and carriage company and worked weekends at the Huber family farm in Starlight, Ind., for 20 years.

According to the Harrison County Prosecutor, both Scott and Schuler were eligible for the death penalty.
