LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Effective immediately, host Greta Van Susteren is leaving her position as a host of the Fox News Channel's "On the Record" news commentary program.

Word of the change came down in a statement from the Fox News Channel, issued Tuesday morning.

According to the statement, senior political analyst Brit Hume will take over the hour-long show, which takes place at 7PM/ET. The change will be implemented today, Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Susteren has been with the network for 14 years. The statement gives no explanation for her departure.

"We are grateful for Greta's many contributions over the years and wish her continued success," wrote the network's co-presidents Jack Abernethy and Bill Stone in a written statement.

Of Hume, Abernethy and Stone wrote:

As one of the best political analysts in the industry, Brit is the ideal choice to host a nightly political program while the most dynamic and captivating election in recent history unfolds. Having Brit at the helm of this show will enable FOX News to continue on track to have its highest-rated year ever as the network dominates the cable news landscape.
