Ryan Lochte accepts 10-month ban from competitive swimming

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- American swimmer Ryan Lochte has accepted a ban from competitive swimming for 10 months.

He won't be allowed to participate in the 2017 World Championships. Lochte will also forfeit $100,000 in bonus money that went with his gold medal at the Olympics.

The punishment is the result of his involvement in an incident at a gas station in Rio de Janeiro.

Lochte was accused of vandalizing property at the gas station, they lying about being robbed there.
